SHOP Vintage double bit cruiser axe

Vintage double bit cruiser axe

€186.00

This example is a vintage American 2.5lb cruiser style with a flat style straight Tennessee hickory 31 inch/79cm handle, lighlty charred and soaked in boiled linseed oil, with an Irish oak wedge and a round steel step wedge. This axe is scared and well used with a patina that is hard to replicate, it came to me in bad shape and to be reused and rehung took a lot of work.

Double bit axes are great, though few modern companies still make them, they can be seen as a duel purpose tool, one side sharp for felling, and one side a little bit less so for knots, splitting etc. Another advantage of double bits is the amazing balance in the hand, nothing quite feels like it to use.

Cruiser axes were generally by foresters surveying tracts of timber, for marking and taking into the bush. Typically 2-3lbs in weight they are a lightweight alternative to their heavier big brothers.

In order for you to purchase this item you need to be at least 18 years old, and as a result you can arrange to collect this item only, unless you use the contact details to email or call me.
